"Everything You Need to Know About Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson’s Collaboration on Die, My Love"

Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are teaming up on-screen for the first time, but don't anticipate a Twilight x Hunger Games crossover fantasy. Instead, the star duo is joining forces with Lynne Ramsay, the renowned Scottish director behind We Need To Talk About Kevin. They’re working together on an adaptation of Die, My Love, a 2019 novel by Argentine author Ariana Harwicz.

Who’s in the cast of Die, My Love?

Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are the leading stars of Die, My Love. After a brief hiatus from acting, Oscar-winner Lawrence has returned with a film each year, starting with the 2021 climate change dramedy Don’t Look Up alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, followed by the 2022 army veteran drama Causeway. Last year, she explored comedy with the raunchy rom-com No Hard Feelings.

Pattinson, meanwhile, has been on a strong streak since starring in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet in 2020. He took on the role of the titular superhero in Matt Reeves’s The Batman and is currently working on Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Mickey 17.

Additionally, Lakeith Stanfield, known for his role in Atlanta, is rumored to be in discussions to join the cast. Stanfield, who earned an Academy Award nomination for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah, will soon appear in Play Dirty alongside Mark Wahlberg and is also starring in and producing the film adaptation of El Paso, Elsewhere.

What’s Die, My Love about?

According to the film’s official logline, Die, My Love is “Set in a remote, forgotten rural area, and follows a mother who struggles to maintain her sanity while battling psychosis.”

The novel, Harwicz’s debut, was a finalist for the Man Booker International Prize in 2018. Set in the French countryside, it centers on an unnamed protagonist who, feeling confined by her roles as a wife and mother to a newborn, seeks relief through increasingly erratic behaviors, including an affair. The New Yorker has described the book as part of the “motherhood horror” genre, which aligns with its intense and unsettling themes.

In an interview with Variety, director Lynne Ramsay described the film as addressing “mental health…and the breakdown of a marriage. But it’s really fucking funny. At least I think it’s funny… But I’m Glaswegian, so I’ve got a really dark sense of humor.” Known for her films that emphasize vivid atmospheres over traditional storytelling, Ramsay’s approach suggests that Die, My Love will have a unique and immersive style.

Who else is involved?

The film is being produced by Justine Ciarrocchi and Martin Scorsese. Jennifer Lawrence is also expected to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Scorsese’s upcoming biopic about Frank Sinatra.

Lynne Ramsay, who has directed four films over her 24-year career, brings her vision to Die, My Love. Her previous works include Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and You Were Never Really Here (2017).

When is Die, My Love set to be released?

While there’s no official release date yet, it’s rumored that Die, My Love might premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. This would align with the pattern, as all of Lynne Ramsay’s films have previously been showcased at the festival, where she has long been a member of the main competition jury.

Stay tuned for updates on Die, My Love.
