The initial Apple Intelligence features will debut in beta for the iPhone 16 next month.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, has provided details on the company’s new artificial intelligence features. Many of these were previewed at Apple’s developer conference in June, with the initial set rolling out in a free software update next month.
Apple Intelligence will be available on the new iPhone 16 models, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Federighi emphasized that Apple Intelligence enhances user experience across language, images, actions, and personal context, all while ensuring data privacy—Apple does not store or share user data, and this privacy commitment is verifiable by independent experts.
One standout feature is the generative emoji capability, allowing users to create custom emojis from a few typed words. Additionally, users can search for photos and videos by typing in keywords.
Federighi also highlighted that Apple Intelligence marks a new era for Siri, enabling users to interact via text, ask questions—even with imperfect phrasing—and access specific details from text conversations.
Upcoming features include the ability to generate emojis and a new Visual Intelligence function, which will allow users to identify objects, like dog breeds, from photos.

The AirPods Pro 2 now come with three new health features, including a clinical-grade hearing aid.
Apple has positioned the AirPods Pro 2 as a product with "incredible health capabilities," introducing three new health-focused features.
One key feature is hearing protection, which is activated by default across all listening modes. Apple notes that 80% of U.S. adults haven't had their hearing checked in the past five years, so they've included a clinically validated hearing test that takes just five minutes when used with AirPods Pro and an iPhone.
Additionally, the AirPods Pro will offer a clinical-grade, over-the-counter hearing aid feature. After completing the hearing test, users can turn their AirPods Pro into a personalized hearing aid, with the "hearing profile" applied to music, movies, and calls across all their devices.
Apple anticipates these features will receive FDA and other regulatory clearances soon.
